Key Takeaways from Last Week’s Event:
Labor Mobility and the ‘Metaklisis’ Model: From India to Greece” – Part 2

In Part 1, we explored the foundational vision for India-Greece labor mobility.
Part 2 focused on how institutions and businesses are translating vision into action.

Mr. Giannis Bratakos, President of the #Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) stressed that bringing in foreign workers is not only a necessary solution for immediate shortages in food service, tourism, and construction — it also supports innovation ecosystems. He emphasized structured migration flows, robust intergovernmental cooperation, and the protection of worker rights. ACCI, he noted, is launching a dedicated platform to record labor needs and guide its members, while urging chambers of commerce to actively collaborate with regional and employer organizations.

Mr. Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, called the forum a key step in advancing sustainable staffing solutions aligned with national competitiveness goals. He underscored India’s potential as a source of young, skilled labor and announced a new joint platform between Greece, India, and Cyprus to facilitate labor connections — a stepping stone toward future bilateral agreements and long-term labor strategies.

Mr. Alexandros Fourlas, Vice President of the Board at Goldair Handling, shared real-world insights from implementing the secondment model. Since 2021, Goldair has recruited from Indian airports, valuing the strong qualifications and cultural adaptability of Indian workers. While the company has faced challenges — including bureaucratic delays and housing logistics — Mr Fourlas affirmed the model’s strategic value and pledged continued collaboration with government bodies to streamline the process and ensure smooth worker integration.

Part 3 coming soon, where we explore the legal framework and the procedure of the Metakllisis Model.
